Midterms
A good portion of the past couple of weeks have been spent dedicated to studying and completing my midterms. For my classes this semester, two of my classes had in-person closed-note tests, one had an online open-note test, and one has a paper that I have a month to complete. The two in-person tests were completed on an OMR sheet which I’d never used in tests in Hawaii before. It is similar to a scantron but requires a special OMR pen which I was able to purchase at Daiso. I found these two tests to be more difficult than I anticipated them to be, but my other one was fine.
Meerkat Cafe
When I was in elementary school, I declared that my favorite animal was a meerkat because when I was little, I would watch a show called Meerkat Manor and I thought the meerkats were really cute. So naturally, once I found out that there are meerkat cafes in Korea, I knew that one day I had to go. This was my first time going to an animal cafe and I’m not sure if I’d want to go to another in the future. Part of me felt bad for the animals the whole time as they mostly looked somewhat sad and like they were trapped in such a tight space which is nothing like their natural habitat. The place also smelt pretty bad which I somewhat expected though.
Kiss of Life Concert
I attended my first girl group concert in Korea. This concert was held at the Olympic Hall, and I was able to get a VIP ticket, allowing me to be about three rows in front of the stage. This was also my first time being in the standing section for a concert in Korea. What was interesting was that when purchasing the ticket, you choose a seat number that is actually your order number for getting into the venue. Thus, about an hour before the doors opened (two hours before the concert started) the entire standing section had to line up according to their number. This process was somewhat chaotic, but I didn’t find it too overwhelming.
Unfortunately, due to my height and the fanboys in front of me, I was unable to see the performance very well for the majority of the concert. The people in front of me were also holding their phones pretty high which blocked my view. Despite this, the members were really good at performing and I’m glad I got to experience being so up close at a K-Pop concert.
Thoughts
I’m starting to realize how little time I have left abroad and it’s kind of stressing me out. I have so much planned for the next few months and I feel like it might become difficult to balance school and exploring. Hopefully, I will get better at locking in. Thanks for reading <3
