Snow Ducks
Something that I’ve always seen K-pop idols do during the winter in Korea is use molds to create sculptures in the snow. My friend purchased a bunch of different ones from Coupang, and we spent two hours making snow figures next to our dorm. Playing with the snow is so fun.
NCT Dream Concert
I attended the second day of NCT Dream’s finale concerts in Seoul for The Dream Show 3. In order to get tickets for this concert, I had to check their ticketing site on Melon Ticket regularly to find a refunded ticket. A lot of people were refunding their tickets in the fourth-floor section in the days prior to the concert, so I didn’t really have to worry about getting a seat.
As NCT Dream has been one of my favorite artists for years, parts of the concert felt like an out-of-body experience. Seeing them perform in such a huge venue was unreal. I tried to live in the moment for this concert and didn’t record as much, but now I wish I had videos of some of the performances.
Since my seat was almost in the back of the venue, I feel like it made my experience less spectacular compared to if I were closer. For example, there was a section of the concert where the members asked the audience to stand; however, nobody on the fourth floor stood up. This was pretty disappointing, and I feel like experiencing that section of the concert standing would’ve been so much more fun.
I’m still so grateful to have been able to attend this concert and experiencing these songs live (even from a distance) was unbelievable.
Movies
Over the past two weeks, I’ve been to the movie theater in Korea twice. Going to the movie theater in another country is pretty interesting as there are different snacks to try. In Korea, they have different flavors of popcorn such as double cheese, caramel, basil onion, and regular butter. They also currently have a mango-flavored Minion Ade which is really good. The experience is pretty similar to Hawaii, except for the fact that both the purchasing of tickets and food are done on self-serve kiosks.
The movies that we saw were Moana 2 and Wicked at CGV theaters which showed the movies in English with Korean subtitles. The movies were okay.
Finals
Something interesting about going to school in Korea is that professors hold finals whenever they want. While at UH the time and place for finals are set by the school and are often different from the original class period, Yonsei finals are at the same time as your class as they are organized by the professor. All of my professors have held their final exams before the official last week of the semester, meaning that I am done with my exams which is wild. I only have a final paper to write and then I’m done with school in Korea.
Thoughts
Being done with final exams means that my time abroad is truly coming to an end which is so upsetting to me. I don’t want to go home. Thanks for reading <3
